A Goulishly Good Time!

On October 31st the residents of our retirement residence and seniors' suites had a ghoulishly good time at our Halloween party.  The staff really got into the "spirit" of the day with their wonderful costumes.

We had a Bad Tooth Fairy and a Wizard too!

The menu for dinner incuded: Witches Brew Soup, Deviled eggs appetizer, Goblin Greens Salad,Spook-ghetti or Ghoulash for the main course with a side of Rest In Peas Tiger Tail Ice Scream or Monster Cookies for dessert

Check out the Management Team, who donned their true attire and rode through the buildings on their broom sticks!

Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life

It was a cold and stormy night but nonetheless, thousands of enthusiastic individuals participated in the Relay for Life Event at the Nepean Sportsplex on Friday June 9 2006.  Park Place is proud to have entered two teams in the relay: the Senoritas and Team Alavida.

Tricia Howard, Hospitality Manager for the Park Place Campus, organized our teams with great energy and perseverance.  This is the second year that Tricia has involved us in the Relay for Life.  We preferred the weather of our first year to this one, where the rain pelted down on all the participants and the wind was blowing the tents away.  Significant funds were raised by the teams with contributions from our residents, our head office and the staff themselves, “paying” for the right to wear jeans on a casual day.

Grand Opening Celebration at Park Place Seniors' Suites!

Park Place Seniors' Suites staged a phenomenal Grand Opening Event on Wednesday, May 31, 2006, with in excess of 600 guests attending.

The keynote speaker was Grete Hale, a well-known contributor to the Ottawa community.  All in attendance enjoyed her stories and reminiscences.  This was also the occasion to announce a $10,000. contribution to the Evelyn Greenberg Music Endowment Fund by Alavida Lifestyles, the management company for the Park Place campus.  Mrs. Greenberg graciously entertained the gathering with a selection at the keyboard of the signature Grand Piano in the dining room.

Seniors' Suites was transformed into a tropical paradise to reflect the cruise theme.  Guests toured the building and got their passports stamped in Cozumel (dining room), the State Room (model suite), Pirates of the Caribbean (Social room), the Gangway (tunnel connecting the two buildings) and the Fitness Centre. The hospitality staff outdid themselves in preparing and serving delicious treats in keeping with the theme.  Guests were serenaded by mariachis in the Dining Room and steel band music with the Pirates of the Caribbean.

The winner of the cruise was Dorothy Lang.  Congratulations!

"Give My Regards to Broadway"

On April 20th we rocked the foundation with our "Give My Regards to Broadway" Theme Day, when we previewed our plans for the Park Place Seniors' Suites.  Our many guests enjoyed the entertainment and treat that were prepared by our wonderful cooks in our very own kitchen.
